I have struggled at times to find God's will for my life, in as far as what I am to do with the limited time God has given me while on planet earth. I've asked myself, am I in God's will with what I am doing, with the goals I have made, with regards to school, career, how to serve Him in ministry, what to do with the gifts and talents He has given me. I have heard it taught in some church meetings, that there is a "good, a better and a best" choice that we can make and it is up to us to seek God to find and follow His "best" path for us. That always seemed to put such a heavy yoke on me, and on others, through my observation. It sounded all right, I mean who doesn't want to be guided into what is absolutely God's best for us. But I struggled with that question many times over, Lord, am I doing what You consider to be "best".
One day the Lord showed me some things that really helped me, and I wish to share them with you here:
"It is not about finding good, better or best. When you find Me, you already have Best. The Best plan and will I have for you is Love's deepest possible intimacy with Me.
When your heart wants to love Me and serve Me, it is no problem for Me to guide you into tasks I have for you.
When man tries to find the best choice of calling or career and when they look for it in the available choices of missionary, doctor, preacher, singer etc, they get bogged down. How can one decide? There are so many choices. But who knows which one would please Me the most? But that thinking is wrong. They can't please Me by making the "best" choice.
I want them instead to pour their energy into just loving Me, trusting Me, getting to know Me. The person who is humbly looking to Me daily for their every need, who has laid down their gifts and talents, time and resources for Me to use as I please, is going to hear Me tell them the places I want them to go and the things I want them to do.
The person who loves Me, and trusts Me and gets to know Me will discover that their feet naturally find the next step I have for them to take. For I am their Father who delights to guide His children into the things that bring them life, peace, and joy - that spills out onto those who are around them.
A person who is trying to walk a straight line cannot do so by looking down at their feet. They must lift their head and focus on a distant goal. Their feet find the straight path quite naturally when their eyes remain fixed on the goal.
Look into My eyes. Look at Me constantly and I promise you will find the things I want for you to do!
