“Meet Jesus” is a good name for this page. Because that is what you can actually do. Not just read about him. Not just talk to him. But actually meet him. Pretty wild isn’t it?

God’s not just into theory. He’s into reality and experience…not just talking the talk. In fact he’s a person and he created you in the first place because he wanted to know you and have relationship with you. Not because he is a power-crazed deity who longs to have more minions to boss about.

In fact if he were a power-crazed deity who likes to boss minions about he would have created you so that you had no options, no free thought or free will. He could have created you to be a robot that just did everything he told you. But he doesn’t need to go on power trips like that, because he already has all the power in the known and unknown universe….and then some.

16 Things you need to know about this God:

1. He is the one, true and living God, revealed in three separate persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
2. He is love. He created you in love. He gave you free will so that you had the freedom to choose whether or not you would love him back. He says, love that is not freely chosen is not real love.
3. His plan is that you come to know him, get filled with his spirit, and live for eternity with him.
4. He is completely perfect and cannot welcome sin into heaven or it wouldn’t be heaven any more.
5. Every single one of us has sinned (messed up, been selfish, hurt others, lied etc) in some way.
6. Every sin hurts someone, it all hurts God. Because he is into justice, he says that every sin has to be made right and paid for. If someone has sinned against you, you probably feel the need for justice too.
7. God won’t turn a blind eye to any sin, no matter how big or small, it is still wrong. Imagine if he just said, “Nah, that child abuse doesn’t matter, let’s just forget it.” Aren’t you glad he wants someone to pay the price for that sin?
8. God’s pretty radical when it comes to sin. He says that you can’t cancel it out by trying to do good. That pain is still out there. He says the only way that sin can be paid for and wiped out for good is with blood. The blood of the guilty party.
9. Good news for us – God is crazy in love with us. He knew we’d all messed up too much to make it right ourselves.
10. He decided to offer his son as the blood sacrifice. Jesus was perfect, he had never sinned but he chose to put every sin ever committed on his account. “Count me the guilty one” he said to God.
11. Jesus who lived and breathed and walked on earth was perfect God and perfect man. He lived just like us, resisting every temptation to sin (imagine how hard that would be!) so that he would know just how it feels to be you.
12. Jesus was rejected, beaten, mocked, humiliated, tortured and then crucified. Even though he only healed and helped people.
13. His blood sacrifice on the cross was the perfect sacrifice. His blood paid for the consequences of every sin – yours and mine and the generations that follow us.
14. So now when we come to God as sinful people and want to know him – we can.
15. We just have to exchange report cards. My report card becomes Jesus’ report card. His perfect report card becomes mine. Or like in the court system, I did the crime, but he does the time!
16. In God’s eyes when I accept Jesus into my life, I now have the same status before God as Jesus does. I am completely forgiven and cleansed. I am re-united with my God who made me. His life is in me again.

How wild is that?

Seriously, I can’t even begin to describe how totally mind-blowing this whole deal is.

And it’s freely available to every man, woman and child on the face of the planet. You don’t have to be smart. You don’t have to be good. You don’t have to be religious. You just have to want it.

So if you want to know this God….if you’re prepared to welcome him into your life, knowing that he has to be Lord of it….because HE’s God and you’re not….then pray this prayer:

Father God, I realize that I have messed up in my life. I have been living the way that I want to and I’ve ignored you. I am sorry.

I want to know you. I want you to forgive me for my sins. I want the blood of your Son Jesus to wash away all my sins today!

I want to give my life to you. I want to live with you for all eternity. I want to have your life in me from now onwards.

Please come into my life. I give it to you. Come make me brand new. Come fill me Holy Spirit.

I receive my salvation.

Thank you Father.

What next?

You may feel something happen, you may not. But if you prayed that prayer and you meant it with all your heart, you can know that you are totally saved!

Woooohooooo! Congratulations. That is the best decision you will ever make in your entire life!

Now you are a born-again Christian your job is not to try and be holy or be religious. Your job is to fall in love with this amazing God. Get to know him and how much he loves you. Get yourself a Bible and start to read one of the gospels – for example John’s Gospel in the New Testament.
